This past week our little family took a trip down to the history filled Savannah, GA for my brother's wedding. It was an adventure from the beginning.
This is one of the many mossy old oaks that filled every park and lined the old cobblestone streets near our hotel on downtown Savannah.
Elyse loved all the sights of the horse drawn carriages and the trolleys. She would always point and say "Oh" when she saw either.

The first day we arrived we walked around Ellis Square and just relaxed in our room. This was a shooting water fountain across the street from our hotel. There were a lot of kids, young and old, that played in the cool water of this fountain. Elyse was not one of them, but she liked watching everyone else play.
The girls and I waiting outside for daddy to bring us our ice cream from Leopold's Ice Cream Parlor. It was the best tasting ice cream on this particular hot evening.
We did a ton of walking while in Savannah since our hotel was so close to everything. This is down on the riverfront. Elyse loved watching all the big freight boats and small ferries going up and down the river.
The next few pictures are from our walk up and down River Street. This is the WW II Memorial.
The old Savannah City Hall. It only cost $205,000 to build originally back in the day. The some at the top is covered in 24k gold leaf valued at $240,000.
This statue is of Florence Martus "the waving girl" . The story goes that Florence's beau was a sailor and when he left Savannah she decided she would go every morning and wave to all the incoming ships in hopes that here beau had returned for her on one of the ships. She also would go out at night with a lantern to wave goodnight to all the ships leaving port. Her beau never returned, but when she passed more than 1,000 ship captains came to her funeral.
Savannah has more than 24 squares or parks and one of those parks is Chippewa Park where Forrest Gump sat on the bench.
We took a side trip to Oatland Wildlife Center. It was the best trip for our money. Elyse got to see a cougar....
... a tortoise...
...a baby opposum...
...& a fox just to name a few.
We also took in some sights at the beach. Elyse didn't like the water and the sand at first but she became use to it. We found hermit crabs and tons of shells.
We ended our trip with celebrating the marriage of my brother Steve and his wife Beth. It was a beautiful and historic filled night filled with love and lots of dancing. We wish them the best in what life has to offer them.

So happy that you took &shared all of these wonderful pictures!
